Angkor is a piece for Marimba solo inspired by the Angkor Temples in Cambodja.
In the beginning you can hear the music of the toil and hard labour of the stone masons in a steady rhythm, regularly interrupted with short pauses, to start again and again.
The second part is based on a pentatonic scale which reminds of the 5 towers of Angkor Wat. This part sounds triumphantly and is larded with scales of different nature to imitate the many stairs in the Temples. The main theme sounds like a chorus so that you will be drawn into the piece by this energy of resonance and rhythm.
